Summer weddings are truly unique. When we think of weddings in general, often we think of Spring or Winter, but for the bride that wants a more relaxed feel to her big day, there is no better time of year than summer. With the bright sun and all its glorious heat, summer brings to mind vibrancy, youth, and fun at the beach. If you are planning to get hitched during the summer then I have some great ways to really have fun with it and fully embrace this beautiful time of year. You have to start with the colors of the season. Hot and vibrant colors are what you want to choose if you plan on getting married in this hot season. Dark, deep, or rich colors will completely clash with the season and the atmosphere it brings with it. If you love that deep eggplant color, get married in fall or winter, but not summer. You can opt of light colors, think of the beach, sea foam green, light blue, sandy earth colors; however, if you want to be bold, now is your time. This is the only time of year you can really get away with all those amazing tropical colors, so play with color and have some fun. Your bride’s maids will thank you for picking dresses that are mid calf to knee length; unless all the ladies in your party are in their 20s you will want to avoid anything shorter than knee length. This is the time to pick dresses with spaghetti straps and flirty skirts. Tradition has all maids in the same dress and color, but the modern bride is breaking this mold by opting to either allow each maid to pick her own dress, to suit her body type, out of a few you selected that are all the same color or in the same color palette, or picking one dress and allowing them to decide which color they want to be in your vibrant color palette. Either way you go, this allows your maids to look and feel their best; no know wants those nightmare maid’s dresses anymore. Planning where to have your wedding is never more fun than in summer. The weather allows you the option of indoors or out, without much worry for rain in most areas. Ever dreamed of getting married on the beach, coming down the aisle on the back of a white horse? Summer is the time to make that dream come true. This is also a great time to do a destination wedding; taking just a few of your closest family and friends to an exotic or special location out of state or country. This is a great way to start your honeymoon too. When planning your menu think light! Go for a nice salad with either chicken or fish as the main course. Don’t weigh down your guests with heavy foods. Summer is all about fitting into that bathing suit, so keep it light, trust me, your guests will thank you for it. Lastly, don’t forget to give your guests cool summer wedding favors. This is the perfect time to go with beach wedding favors or maybe something with a luau theme. Sailboats are always great. Using bright colors is important too. Anything bright, fun, and says summer and beach will be perfect.
