Etiquettes of Smoking a Cigar

There are certain etiquettes that a classy smoker must follow, especially if you are smoking a cigar, which is a symbol of elegance. A cigar has a strong smell of tobacco which is a delight for smokers but can be offensive to non-smokers. As it is both unethical and illegal to smoke in spite of someone’s objection to the smoke, it is best to choose spots where there will be no non-smokers that you can disturb and of course, vice versa! There is another effect of smoking a cigar which is actually more universal. Remember that cigars leave a residue and they will leave a residue on anything from a shirt to a wall. If you are interested in smoking outside then the best people to spend time with at that time would be fellow smokers. Go to a friend who also enjoys a good cigar and smoke together without any worries. If however you are not fortunate enough to have the company of a fellow smoker at that particular time, then ask your companion whether he/she is okay with the idea of you smoking a cigar. If an affirmative reply is given, be gentle enough to smoke while keeping his/her discomfort in mind. Do not release the smoke near the person and sit by a window if you are in a room of some sort. Remember that you can ruin someone’s dinner if you are not careful while smoking your cigar. Passive smoking while eating one’s dinner can spoil a good meal in a matter of seconds. Do not be discourteous as you smoke because that could make you quite a social nuisance. Always try to smoke a good quality cigar to enjoy better taste and to keep the loose ash from flying about and getting on everyone around you! An ash-tray is a must while you are smoking a cigar, but if you can not find one when you are outside your home, use a deep container to rest the ash into.
